The NHP motion systems and motion control offering is primarily targeted at general motion control and industrial motion control applications - where the position or velocity of machines are controlled using a device such as a linear actuator, an electric servo motor, stepper motor, or sometimes even an induction motor and variable speed drive (vsd). General motion control covers machinery that is less complex than robotics or Computer Numerical Control (CNC) applications.
Simple motion systems applications usually consist of one or more axis that do not require tight coordination – where the movements of the axis are sequential instead of simultaneous in nature. Co-ordinated motion consists of at least 2 axis that move in unison and are very closely synchronised.
Stand-alone drive systems are configured independently of the main controller with a dedicated software package (usually a web page). Pre-programmed movements are then triggered by push buttons or a programmable logic controller PLC. Integrated drive systems become an intelligent part of the PLC and share the same programming package. The movement of multiple axes can be highly synchronised and movements can be spontaneously re-calculated during runtime.
